The earlier part of this year Claire and I had the privilege of traveling to Roach Missouri, where the
main training center is located for New Tribes Missions. We were there as volunteers to help out with some maintence projects. From our years of doing Mexico Caravan, and actually leading a team there last year, we have gained a new perspective on missions and particularly missions to the unreached people groups in the world.

While we were there, among our work responsibilities, we were able to meet many missionaries, students and staff. Our hearts were deeply moved by many of their stories and experiences. We were constantly thanked for serving there, but inside, and sometimes verbally, we in return thanked them for their heart to reach the lost. ntm1

Evenings there were times spent in fellowshipping with those in our guest house passing through or with other staff and students in their homes located on campus. What a joy to just be with them and fellowship. Many nights were spent just reading missionary stories, in particular, past New Tribe missionaries. One book that stands out to me is “God Planted Five Seeds”. This story takes place thirteen years before the Jim Elliot story. Five missionaries layed down their lives to reach
the Ayore people of Bolivia with the Gospel of Christ. If you like missionary stories, this should be a must read.

We have been asking God for what is next in our lives. It has sometimes been a wrestling match with our hearts. We count it a great privilege to be a part of a church that believes in missions. We look forward to taking another team to Tiquana, Mexico later in May, to learn about the unreached people groups and to see the hearts of our team touched. Thanks for reading!
